We started West Rockingham Daycare & Preschool because we believe every child deserves a safe, loving place to grow, and every family deserves a childcare team they can trust like their own kin.
Sandy Sherman and April Payne both worked in daycare centers before deciding to open their own. Sandy was searching for a safe place for her grandchildren to learn and grow. April wanted a good place to bring her own children.
Together, they opened West Rockingham Daycare & Preschool on June 8, 1998, and have been caring for Harrisonburg and Rockingham County families ever since.

What began as one owner's search for a safe place for her own grandchildren has grown into one of Harrisonburg's longest-running daycares. Nearly three decades later, that same care and attention shapes every classroom at West Rockingham.

Owner
Infant Room Teacher
Sandra has taught in our Infant Room since 1998. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
April Payne
Director
Licensed Practical Nurse
April is a Licensed Practical Nurse with a Child Development Associate Degree. April enjoys family time, camping, and hiking.
Sherry Wean
Assistant Director
Associates, Child Development
Sherry holds a Child Development Associate Degree and brings over 40 years of daycare experience. She loves spending time with family and traveling.

How Are Our Staff Trained and Screened?
Every teacher at West Rockingham is First Aid and CPR certified and completes 16 hours of childcare training every year.
All staff pass criminal background checks and central registry checks before working with your child.
